European Prospect Artist Alice Myers new book, "Nothing is Impossible Under the Sun"
Nothing is Impossible Under the Sun is a new book by European Artist Alice Myers who travelled for two years across the border of Calais as means in getting to know those who are homeless while attempting to cross, those who smuggled them across, those who are claiming asylum in France and those with no legal status and no plans to leave.
This book brings together materials resulting from this process, including found photographs, writing, drawing, transcripts of conversations and negotiated portraits to form a fragmented representation of people who are legally invisible and the spaces to which they are consigned. Here there is a farcical tragedy, futile repetition, and the impossibility of rest.
Nothing is Impossible Under the Sun is published by SOAP, and was launched at Street Level Photoworks in Glasgow, and Breadfield in Malmö, with an accompanying exhibition. The project was made possible by the generous support of the IdeasTap/Magnum Photography Award. It was Self Publish be Happy ‘Book du Jour’ and was shortlisted for the MACK First Book Awards.
